GPI Geospatial is seeking a Utility Locating Technician experienced in locating and marking the location of underground utilities. The position requires experience with specialized equipment to locate all types of underground utility lines and structures. The candidate should have experience operating electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar units to accurately collect relevant data and information.

Responsibilities:
- Use magnetic locators, electromagnetic locators, and ground penetrating radar (GPR) units to locate buried utility lines.
- Maintain and service standard locating equipment.
- Ability to read existing utility plans and identify the existence of existing lines and apparatuses.
- Knowledge of GNSS and convectional surveying instruments to locate existing utilizes and marks.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations to determine the depth of lines.
- Prepare field sketches and diagrams of existing utilities and markings.
- Organize pictures and record field conditions.
- Knowledge of ASCE Standard Guideline for Investigating and Documenting Existing Utilities (38-22)
- Familiar with FDOT Utility Accommodation Manual, Chapter 11, Utility Survey, Section 11.3 Locates
- Ability to complete Quality Control procedures and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the utility locating industry
- Work must be performed carefully and with great accuracy.
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails
- Ability to work along highways, in wooded areas, and on construction job sites.
- Wear and work using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety vests, work boots, and safety glasses/goggles as company directives require.
