Description:
Under limited supervision delivers services to substance abuse clients including client assessments, monitoring client attendance at meetings and classes, individual and group counseling
How will I contribute
May conduct orientation, intake/assessments, alcohol and other drug education sessions, face-to-face interviews, exit interviews, and/or aftercare sessions in accordance the Title IX regulations and Program protocol and policies.
Monitor participant attendance or completion of self-help activities, if required.
Monitor participant payments/fees.
Conduct financial assessment interview in accordance with Title IX Regulations and Program protocols.
Document charts neatly, accurately and in a timely manner (include group progress notes, attendance, absences, face-to-face monitoring forms, educational sessions, self-help activities, aftercare, scheduled make-up sessions, etc.)
Monitor participant charts and/or attendance schedules to ensure compliance with Title IX regulations and Program policies.
Recommend leaves of absence, dismissal/suspension, reinstatement, completion, etc. for participants in accordance with Title IX and Program policies.
Attend scheduled staff meetings.
Completion of 40 hours per two-year period of related training is required for continued employment for registered/certified counselors.
Membership in the California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP) is encouraged.
Maintain counselor certification as required by State law.
Conduct breathalyzer and/or saliva tests on participants as appropriate. Complete documentation for participants testing positive.
Compliance with CLAS standards
Complete an annual training on Cultural humility/competency.
Communicate openly and clearly, on a regular basis, with Clinical Supervisor and support staff to ensure Program effectiveness (appropriate caseload, work hours, scheduling, group capacity, etc.)
Abide by all Kings View policies and procedures, including but not limited to, confidentiality of program participants (Title 42 and HIPPA/Privacy).
Assist with fee collection from clients.
Scheduled vacation time (non-emergency) must be requested, in writing, 2 weeks in advance.
Any other related duties that may be assigned.
What I bring
- AA degree or the equivalent 60 college semester units with emphasis in behavioral or social sciences.
- Must be certified to provide AOD services.
- Two years related experience.
- Three years abstinence if there is a history of substance abuse.
- Fast learner, organized, can deal with changing environment, ability to get along well with others, team player.
- Relate to others comfortably and able to establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Action oriented.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities.
