    POSITION:Substitute Teacher
    Salary/Hours:
    • Pay scale: $20.00/hour

    JOB SUMMARY:
    The Substitute Teacher enables all students to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.
    REQUISITE EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Previous experience working with groups of children desired,
    • Ability to work with various levels of students,
    • Previous Substitute Teacher experience preferred

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (including but not limited to the following)
    • Reports to the front office upon arrival at the school
    • Reviews the lesson plans and schedules to be followed during the school day
    • Ensures all materials are ready and prepared for instruction
    • Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned
    • Teaches the lesson plans outlined by the regular classroom teacher to facilitate appropriate learning experiences for students
    • Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch and in other activity periods
    • Maintains maximum supervision of assigned students at all times
    • Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day
    • Communicates and interacts with students, staff, parents, and the community as necessary
    • Maintains appropriate records in the absence of the classroom teacher
    • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the
    use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions will be required.
    CLEARANCES (Conditions for employment):
    • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
    • Tuberculosis Screening
