Substation Electrical Testing and Commissioning Specialist
Location: Nationwide
Job type and Duration: Long-term Contract
Our client, a global Architecture and Design Firm, is hiring multiple Electrical Testing and Commissioning Specialists across all different skill levels for their National Field roles.
The Electrical Testing and Commissioning Specialist directs commissioning and testing activities in the field. This position is responsible for providing commissioning and testing solutions.
- Prepare and recommend testing & commissioning solutions to the Project Manager or client.
- Delivers solutions to the Project Manager or Senior Engineer to address future client needs and provide cost analysis on testing solutions.
- Ensures the performance of all field testing on substation equipment is completed accurately and safely.
- Performs demonstration tests, as required, which are a series of functional tests designed to simulate real-world conditions to ensure proper operation of yard equipment.
- Develops and executes substation equipment test procedures.
- Provide technical instruction, mentoring, and guidance with regard to substation systems and electrical power systems to field testing technicians.
- Develop testing & commissioning departmental and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance of testing QA/QC process.
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients and outside personnel with the responsibility to act independently on technical matters related to testing & commissioning.
- Manages marketing efforts for key pursuits.
- Consults with clients on Testing and Commissioning projects.
- Maintains client relationships with client field personnel.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power & Controls, or equivalent.
- Requires fourteen years of applicable Electrical Testing experience.
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Must have an expert understanding of electrical systems.
- Must exhibit advanced knowledge of electrical industry standards.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership skills, attention to safety, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be advanced in the use of testing equipment and tools.
- Must have proven marketing knowledge and/or client relationships with Testing and Commissioning clients.
- Related consulting experience is preferred.
