Position Information
Description and Details:
The Study Abroad Coordinator reports immediately to the Associate Director of Study Abroad and ultimately to the Director of International Student and Study Abroad Services. Study abroad services works with domestic and abroad experiential learning opportunities (Go Global). The Study Abroad Coordinator provides Go Global academic advising and program management, advances academic enhancement of Go Global programs, manages program and student budgets, maintains website and online application processes, and conducts Study Abroad marketing, recruitment, and events.
Go Global Academic Advising:
Advise students with an understanding of academic curriculum, including selection of courses as they plan for their go global (abroad and domestic) experience;
Work with students to align their program choice with their academic and career goals;
Assist students with planning and paperwork and maintain their application materials and student records;
Maintain contact with students while they are away from NDSU to help them work towards their learning goals;
Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on Study Abroad programs and partner institutions and maintain positive relationships with program representatives;
Utilize campus resources such as Bison Advise, Degree Map, Campus Connection, Handshake, etc.
Stay up-to-date and collaborate with others on processes across campus that relate to going global, such as Academic Advisors and Departments, Financial Aid, Customer Account Services, Registration and Records, One Stop, Counseling Center, Multicultural Programs, Publication Services, etc.
Marketing and Technology:
Create and update website, brochures, posters, videos, social media posts to promote program opportunities and coordinate with
Publication Services on larger promotional materials;
Maintain and update online application processes through Terra Dotta;
Act as the main point of contact for Terra Dotta support case issues;
Actively provide marketing and recruitment for all Study Abroad programs;
Administer the scholarship application process and maintain application materials;
Coordinate the Go Global Festival, scholarship, and global learning workshops/events;
Promote Study Abroad through tabling and presentations related to events such as Orientation, Discover NDSU, etc.
Supervise the Peer Mentors with the goal of keeping them up-to-date to provide accurate advising
Academic Enhancement of Go Global Programs:
Teach the pre-departure, while abroad, and re-entry courses/sessions;
Work with the Assistant Director of Study Abroad to provide services and workshops to encourage student learning and development for faculty who design and lead global seminars;
Facilitate the use of learning outcomes and assessment for Study Abroad programs;
Work on curriculum integration and pathway programs for Study Abroad;
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Study Abroad to work towards the integration of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad;
Enroll students in the global learning, seminar, and practicum courses;
Administer transcript processing after return and collaborate with Registration and Records regarding course transfer.
Finances and Budgets:
Work with Customer Account Services to coordinate the billing of students on Study Abroad programs;
Coordinate the payments to outside vendors and institutions while following the associated campus processes;
Facilitate Financial Aid and Loan processes and student budgets
Manage the individual global seminar budgets in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Study Abroad;
Facilitate the scholarship awarding process in collaboration with the Financial Aid office and Development Foundation.
Assist with general office activities
Represent the Office of International Student and Study Abroad Services as requested at activities
Provide customer service and contribute to a professional teamwork environment.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree (or will complete in the next calendar year)
Capability for advanced computer use - this job requires proficiency with technology and comfort in learning new technology;
Study abroad or work abroad experience in another country;
Experience involving detailed tasks, organization of tasks, and use of judgment;
Foreign language study;
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching;
International Education/Studies degree/emphasis;
Proficient with PeopleSoft;
Working knowledge of Terra Dotta software
Advertised Salary
$46,340 plus excellent benefits package
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer
