Job Summary:
Exos is looking for a Technical Director, Studio to join our growing production team. We are a highly collaborative, fast-moving department that supports innovative, live and on-demand coach to camera and audio programming out of our broadcast studio facilities in Sunnyvale, CA (San Jose, CA) and virtual setups around the country. This role will be responsible for technical production delivery in the support of high-quality programs at scale in a demanding and evolving production environment.
You will be responsible to be onsite to technically direct our studio content, supporting our studio facilities, while maintaining and continually elevating our brand standard broadcast quality. The ideal candidate will have experience directing live broadcasts in a dynamic environment and will have the ability to lead the control room team creatively, delivering fast-paced and innovative fitness content that engage users.
The Technical Director, Studio will also possess a broad technical skill set to run camera, lighting, live-switching and audio equipment as well as perform maintenance, installation, system hardware and simple repair of broadcast equipment. This position will report to the Senior Producer of Studio Operations, and will be based onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.
]JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and switch all studio content - both live and recorded
  • Manages daily operations and long-term planning for technical crews across Exos virtual categories
  • Provides clear, strong leadership and support for studio productions; effortless culture builder, developing a high-performing, collaborative, passionate and creative team who loves their work
  • Manages technical logistics for high-profile projects and production, including cameras, lighting, teleprompting & audio needs - ensuring goals and deadlines are met
  • Directs live and on-demand studio classes creatively, consistently and accurately
  • Works cross-functionally and in collaboration with leadership, producers, coaches, talent and programming team to execute overall content strategy
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and engineering updates at studio
  • Basic electronic maintenance and technical support for:
    • Production control room, studio,, equipment room
    • A/V routing systems, production switchers, cameras, audio mixers, SNS storage systems, graphics systems, hardware and software codecs, embedding/processing gear, intercom & IFB, wireless RF systems, automation & transmission systems
  • Utilize online tools to coordinate and track repairs and inventory needs. Coordinate with vendors for technical support and scheduled on site visits.
  • Provide technical insights and work collaboratively on projects to better secure and enhance our production/post/transmission capacities.
  • Maintain and manage the network's internal DAM or SNS database and archiving system by adhering to digital naming conventions, file management, metadata, and quality control
  • Produce and execute daily, weekly studio schedule and communicate with talent and technical parties.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Film, Production or equivalent experience
  • Experienced leader with 5+ years of experience working in a fast-paced live broadcast environment, managing people and processes
  • 3-5 successful years of director experience in a daily live and/or studio environment
  • Familiarity with Panasonic Remote Camera Controllers, Kula production video switcher and Yamaha QL-1 mixing console
  • Communicates clearly and proactively; displays excellent interpersonal and team-building skills with crew, talent, producers, and staff
  • Displays solid judgment to prioritize work and a calm demeanor to motivate all on-set members of the team; can adapt under pressure
  • True cross-functional collaborator, open to feedback and able to provide quick solutions
  • Experience managing simultaneous programs from start to finish while hitting all deadlines; very organized with sharp attention to detail
  • Proficient with Google Suite, and media production applications and equipment
  • Competent knowledge in video, audio and pre-production, production and post-production workflows, including live production and streaming for the web through Zoom or other platforms.
  • Balanced mix of creativity and technical expertise
  • Understanding and interest of the wellness market a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of interview set ups, and multi camera/lighting techniques that properly capture the subject is essential
  • A deep technical expertise of modern video cameras, capture techniques, lighting and sound is required
  • Extensive knowledge of PTZ cameras, video switchers, remote camera controls and recording equipment
  • Deep understanding of lensing in quick turn, multi set up environments, where time is often limited
  • Properly lighting and exposing for subjects in a variety of field or studio scenarios
  • Experience and knowledge in audiovisual standards and file codecs like UHD, HDR
  • Physically able to lift or move AV equipment, estimated 25 lbs

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
  • Adobe Premiere Pro & Photoshop
  • Google Suite
  • YouTube, Wistia or equivalent (video platform that hosts on demand videos)

COMPENSATION
  • Pay range between $110,00-125,000
