Farm Journal Broadcast is home to the nation’s most watched and listened to programs serving agriculture and rural America. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, the Studio Production & Content Specialist is a core member of the production staff responsible for contributing to all aspects of content/video production for the broadcast division and the company as a whole. This position is ideal for someone looking to be part of a story-telling team that serves a valuable and appreciative audience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Video editor and studio operator for daily agriculture news program.
  • Direct and switch daily studio recording for national show and other elements as needed.
  • Produce and edit long and short format video features.
  • Edit high-quality commercial content for client partners.
  • Knowledge of both Mac and PC platforms as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud assets.
  • Ability to create graphics using Photoshop and Illustrator platforms.
  • Project manager, working independently and jointly with clients/producers/reporters to successfully execute multiple and simultaneous projects from creation to completion.
  • Direct and execute occasional live stream programs, utilizing current studio equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Vimeo, Streamyard, Vmix, Brightcove and other streaming and video services.
  • Working with broadcast team, seek out new and innovative ways to engage and extend audience relationships with social and multi-media. Translate video to the web and other social media platforms.
  • Understanding of current and developing video, digital & production technologies a must.
  • Maintain and continue to build one of the largest agricultural legacy video collections in the country.
  • Have some basic radio production knowledge.
  • Ability to shoot quality video with current Sony platform 4K/HD style cameras.
  • Ability to travel on occasion to assist in location production.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting techniques used on location for multiple camera operations.

Education/Skills/Professional Experience
Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication/television production or commensurate experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in television and/or video production
  • Must be flexible and able to work some longer days and occasional evening hours
  • Ability to execute all aspects of television news & creative production – editing, videography, graphic design, project management, social media, and captioning services as needed.
  • Have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Applications.
  • Demo reel or link with recent work.
