Job description

Student Web Developer & Content Specialist
The ASU Outreach Hub is dedicated to connecting more constituents in impactful ways using data-derived insights, integrated and collaborative approaches and advanced outreach techniques in support of the ASU Public Enterprise.
The Student Web Developer & Content Specialist will assist ASU Enterprise Partners in enhancing and maintaining content on a variety of online channels including asuenterprisepartners.org and asufoundation.org websites.
The Student Web Developer & Content Specialist enjoys creating digital experiences and wants to further his/her skills in web design and front and back-end development; s/he may be seeking this kind of professional work in the future, for which this role would provide hands-on experience and responsibility.
The position will require approximately 20 hours per week, with additional availability during the non-school year.

What you'll do:
  • Builds websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript while adhering to best practices and web standards
  • Maintains various websites using CMS (Drupal, WordPress) adhering to ASUEP and ASU brand standards
  • Performs usability tests to ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive layout functionality
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining SEO strategy
  • Periodically pulls and reviews Google Analytics statistics and makes recommendations based on digital strategy and user experience best practices
  • Assists with A/B or multivariate testing of content, layout, and navigation using Optimizely
  • Creates, edits, and optimizes graphics and photos for digital use with Adobe Creative suite of applications
  • Balances multiple tasks and keep several projects running simultaneously without error
  • Supports web team in miscellaneous tasks
  • Supports implementation of custom applications using React and other JavaScript libraries
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:
  • Willingness to learn and ability to work well with others
  • Strong command of design, typography, and layout principles
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Understanding of digital design and best user experience practices and principles
  • Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and working with Drupal and WordPress a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, messaging apps, project management software, video conferences, and by phone
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects, while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to quickly learn new software programs and apply new production techniques as needed
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible
  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASU Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential donor information
  • Knowledge of Salesforce products such as Commerce Cloud and Marketing Cloud a plus

Relevant qualifications:
  • A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field
  • The student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement
  • Experience with Adobe Creative suite of applications for web and graphics

Preferred education and experience:
  • A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Graphic Information Technology

Preferred skills and abilities:
  • Advanced understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
