Job Description
The Student Outreach and Recruitment Specialist is a key component of the Miskwaadesi Head Start Project at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. This position provides services and resources to students to support their success, both inside and outside the classroom, from the time they enroll through their graduation. This position coordinates intervention and brings together academic success resources for students that may be experiencing barriers to achieving their potential. In collaboration with key departments, faculty, staff and community resources, this position will prioritize a holistic approach to student success.
This position develops, implements, and evaluates recruitment and outreach activities, strategies, and programs to recruit, admit and enroll students into the Child Development Program and the Miskwaadesi Head Start Program. This position will develop and maintain relationships with identified partners within the institution and community, especially with our partner Tribal Head Start programs.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience supporting students in a higher education or K-12 setting, or other comparable experience
  • Experience summarizing and presenting information in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience in student development/engagement, academic advising, early alert intervention, and working with high-risk students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
  • Proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AA or BA degree
  • Experience with reviewing, evaluating, and making improvements based on results.
  • Experience with, and commitment to, working with American Indian students and other underrepresented populations.
  • Experience with student advisement
  • Experience and knowledge working with a Head Start organization, especially a Tribal Head Start organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage, and evaluate recruitment-related programs and activities.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex travel schedule and arrangements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to communicate with prospective students and evaluate recruitment programs (i.e.. Social media, relationship management databases).
  • Knowledge of college recruitment concepts and procedures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
