Job description

Manages the day-to-day operation of Student Success programs for graduate students. Reports to designated administrator.

Examples of Duties:


Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Lead the development of graduate Student Success programs.

Connect students to campus and community resources for basic needs, academic support, and financial assistance (i.e. Student Accessibility Services, Financial Aid, Student Ombuds, CARES Center).

Serve as point of contact and liaison between the Graduate College and internal and external constituencies relative to activities, projects, and other administrative functions.

Provide direct service to students through individual and group meetings. Provide Student Success recommendations to faculty, staff, and administrators when appropriate.

Work with Graduate College staff to coordinate orientation programs in partnership with university offices and academic colleges.

Co-lead the Graduate College Fellows Program, a leadership development program for graduate students.

Plan and execute student engagement and success programs and events when assigned.

Collaborate with other units (e.g., Institutional Research, Graduate Admissions Office, etc.) to analyze data to create annual reports to support student orientation, retention, and persistence initiatives. Implement strategies for achieving objectives.

Lead the development of belonging programs and initiatives across the Graduate College. Evaluate and implement changes to assigned programs and initiatives.

Serve on various university committees.

May assist in student recruiting efforts, which includes working with the Graduate Admissions on developing strategies and approaches.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Three years' experience working with a variety of student populations in an educational setting, including administrative experience.

License/Certification:


Knowledge Of:

Desktop software ( i.e. Microsoft Office products) *

Higher education organizational structure *

Student success practices *


Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communications *

Organizing information and projects *

Providing leadership and direction to others *

Management of data related to diverse student populations *

Implementing projects and assessment of program initiatives *

Project management


Ability To:

Learn/apply basic student orientation/outreach/retention functions *

Work with a variety of student populations to identify basic student needs for referrals using appropriate academic and career resources *

Function well in a team-oriented environment

Communicate effectively with all components of the university *

Independently manage multiple projects and functions and prioritize workflow *

Work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis

Travel from building to building off campus occasionally
