Job Description:

Bellarmine University's Academic & Support Services for Student Athletes and Student Success Center are seeking a Student Success Coach to support student-athletes and first-generation students. This position will manage support for college readiness initiatives, retention efforts, and academic support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and evaluate academic progress. 
  • Support students' acclimation to college. 
  • Develop academic strategies for success, connects students with resources and opportunities, and serve as a source of ongoing support through the time working with the student-athlete/first generation students.
  • Oversee engagement and academic tracking of select student athletes and first generation students, supporting more efficient and intentional retention efforts. 
  • Collaborate with campus departments, faculty, and coaches to support student engagement, retention, and success efforts. 
  • Assist students in developing self-efficacy. 
  • Help students identify, develop, and implement learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials. 
  • Refer students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborate with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred. 
  • Assess program effectiveness in collaboration with Assistant Dean of Academic Services and Director of Academic & Support Services 


Requirements:

  • Master's degree in education, higher education, or a related field.
  • A minimum year experience working in higher education. 
  • Strong administrative, logistical, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse campus population, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities, and socioeconomic levels. 
  • Experience working directly with college readiness initiatives, advising and/or academic coaching.
