Student Nurse Summer Externship
Horn Memorial Hospital is excited to offer a unique opportunity for nursing students. This paid Summer Nurse Externship will allow the student to observe, firsthand, the dynamics of nursing practice. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the student will have the opportunity to expand their nursing and critical thinking skills. As an extern, the student will learn how to communicate with physicians, patients and co-workers, gain experience with essential skills such as prioritization of acutely ill patients, increase organizational and time management skills, collaborate with the healthcare team, and utilize the nursing process to plan care and coordination of the patient.
The paid externship begins in May or June and will last for 8 weeks. Externship will include three 12 hour shifts/week. Hours may include holidays and weekends.
Requirements:
- Anticipated graduation from RN program in December of 2024 or May of 2025
- BLS certified
- Has completed at least one rotation in acute care clinical
Nursing externship students will be given priority for a career at Horn Memorial Hospital upon graduation. Accepting applications until March 22, 2024.
