Glens Falls Hospital is seeking current nursing students entering their final year of nursing school to join the Student Nurse Extern program! This is a great opportunity to gain hands on patient care experience while working closely with a nurse mentor. The Student Nurse extern will perform traditional Patient Care Associate duties for their assigned nurse preceptor, allowing the extern the opportunity to shadow the day-to-day role of a Registered Nurse.
Team Impact
The Student Nurse Extern program will begin on May 28th, 2024, and will run until August 24th, 2024. As part of the patient care team, the SNE ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers, as well as appropriate utilization of resources. The SNE ensures the comfort and first level of care for patients.
The Student Nurse Extern Program also includes opportunities for shadowing experiences in other departments and roles, critical thinking and skill development class, and a meet and greet brunch with the Nurse Managers and Clinical Nurse Educators involved in the Nurse Residency Program and Specialty Tracks.

Eligibility to remain as a per diem PCA once the program is completed, with endorsement from nurse manager

Qualifications/Experience
Education/Accredited Programs
High School diploma or higher
Currently enrolled in in an accredited (ACEN, CCNE or AACN) nursing program
o Must have completed 3 years in a BSN program or 1 year in an associate program
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Experience/Abilities
One letter of recommendation from school of nursing required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $20.00 to $27.95 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
