ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Lab Student Assistants will work at The Collins College of Hospitality Management under the supervision of Mr. Michael Godfrey, Associate Dean and Chitra Perera, Senior Budget Analyst.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
This position will be responsible for assisting Instructors with mis en place and kitchen setup, help ensure safety and sanitation procedures and protocol are being followed, offer suggestions, and assist students (when appropriate and applicable), inventory and waste control, daily and end of quarter clean-up of kitchen, working with the Culinary Laboratory Coordinator (CLC) to help break and stock delivery loads and build orders based on requisitions, and assist instructor with other duties as needed.

Basic Cooking Skills; Equipment Set-up, Operation and Breakdown Knowledge; Teamwork mindset; Resourceful Communications Skills; Positive Attitude Towards Faculty, Staff, Students, Peers, and Guests
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of HRT 3830L or solid, working, hands-on knowledge and skills of successful "heart of the house" operations
- Positive interpersonal communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize new tasks, manage time, and have the ability work in a team setting, positively interacting with other students, faculty, and staff.
- The physical ability to complete essential duties that, in part, may require lifting at least 15 lbs.
This is a 15-20 hours per week, non-exempt, non-benefitted position.
