Undergraduate Admissions:
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions supports the university in meeting its strategic enrollment goals and fulfilling the UCF Strategic Plan. It is responsible for coordinating the identification, recruitment, admission, and enrollment of all undergraduate first-time-in-college, transfer, non-degree, dual enrollment, early admission, and non-Florida public institution transient students. The office leverages the UCF brand to market, communicate and engage with broadly diverse, talented, and academically qualified students who will enrich our community and achieve academic and personal excellence.
The Opportunity:
UCF's Undergraduate Admissions seeks a Student Admissions Counselor I to join their team! This position is responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, including overseeing campus visit programs and the creation and delivery of electronic marketing and communications efforts.
UCF has a limited remote work arrangement policy, contingent upon work assignments and performance of the employee.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the scheduling and delivery of daily campus tours for individual families and large groups, including content, training, and supervision of OPS student tour guides and operation of the Duke Energy UCF Welcome Center front desk.
  • Conducts periodic reviews and works closely with campus partners to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information and a best-in-class visit experience for all guests.
  • Assists in the planning, creation, organizing and implementation of engagement and recruitment activities directly related to targeted groups, including but not limited to social media content, college fairs, high school visits and special events.
  • Works with the team that oversees communication, marketing, recruitment, engagement, and admission for the university including the management, planning, travel, recruitment, application review, and admission within a territory or target market.
  • Reviews and evaluates admission applications and academic credentials, computes high school and college grade point averages in compliance with the State of Florida and university admission standards. Renders admission decisions on these applications.
  • Works closely with on-campus offices and departments that impact the recruitment of students to ensure admission and enrollment processes are followed and information is conveyed in order to meet university enrollment goals.
  • Represents the university at public and private high school/college visitations (including conferring with college counselors and student groups), college nights, and panel presentations to parents, students, and other constituent populations.
  • Maintains accurate enrollment figures of targeted groups for university information and assists in providing annual reports.
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director for Communications and Visitor Engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with high school or college students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong sense of initiative and creativity.
  • Previous experience working in an admissions office.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to track data accurately, identify trends, and make thoughtful recommendations.
  • Experience and familiarity with social media platforms and content creations is a plus.
