Description:
Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is seeking a Structures/Bridge Manager to lead the Transportation bridge design teams in the Southwest region in our Transportation Division. Currently, the southwest region consists of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas offices with bridge team members. This position requires coordination and balancing structures workload across the southwest, providing technical guidance and market bridge/structures expertise to support the growth of Wilson & Company’s existing practice.
This ideal candidate should be an experienced technical leader, a project and personnel manager with a strong engineering background, and a proven history of relationships in the transportation market.
Required Skills
- Effective communication skills - both verbal and written.
- A broad understanding of transportation structural engineering principles is required.
- Skilled in project management, managing technical professionals, and demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellence in managing project pursuits, preparing proposals, and working with marketing staff.
- The ability to attract and recruit high-end talent to Wilson & Company with the ability to retain, develop, and promote
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience with an advanced civil engineering degree preferred, including design and management experience.
- A Professional Engineer licensed in at least one of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah, and the ability to obtain a license in these additional states beyond your current license.
- Candidate must have established & proven relationships within the transportation industry.
- Experience that demonstrates successful structural design and management projects
Responsibilities:
- This position requires managing structures projects or tasks on major projects in the southwest.
- Provide structural support to other disciplines as and when necessary. Support the southwest region offices’ structural needs, and coordinate work with the local operations lead.
- Create proposals and establish budgets and schedule timelines. Make appropriate recommendations regarding the scope and resource requirements of projects.
- Act as a primary contact for structural engineering clients.
- This individual supervises bridge engineers in the southwest region with proper technical guidance to enhance the technical skills of professional and entry-level engineers.
- Promote and implement Wilson & Company quality procedures and practices among the engineering to produce quality products.
- Coordinate workload, hiring requirements, and other technical needs or resources with the transportation structures manager. Interview and hire additional staff as necessary.
- Execute performance appraisals of all the southwest structures staff through annual Goal Setting and third quarter Goal Setting Reviews.
- Compliance with Wilson & Company’s policy on risk management, including contract/agreement review, quality assurance, and quality control in the execution of all projects.
