Structured Cabling Engineer - 1099 Contractor - $25 per hour
Orion US is looking for a Structured Cabling Engineer:
Position Overview:
Orion US is seeking an experienced Cabling Engineer familiar with IT cabling such as fiber, copper, e.g. CAT5/6, etc willing to learn and train. This is a temporary-to-permanent position offering the opportunity to work on exciting projects involving wireless technologies. The ideal candidate should have experience in cabling, large installations and requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Flexibility and the ability to travel across the USA, sometimes at short notice, are essential for this role (travel expenses covered). General Requirements:
- Experience with local cabling installations including fiber & copper.
- Experience with testing cabling with fluke meters, mod taps, patching, etc.
- Working with 3rd party technicians.
- Following strict processes and protocols and working as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn Ekahau product set, AP on the Stick Survey (APoS), active/passive site surveys, and wireless infrastructure design principles.
- Experience with scissor and boom lifts, adhering to safety procedures during installations.
- Generate detailed reports and documentation related to project deliverables.
- Work effectively under pressure, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Stay updated with current and evolving cabling standards and industry best practices.
*Note - this position is physical and sometimes requires heavy lifting
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- CommScope cable certification.
- Experience and/or training on fluke equipment.
- Previous experience conducting cabling in office and warehouse environments.
- General understanding of cabling concepts and protocols.
- Familiarity with large distributed cabling network design.
- Basic understanding of floor plan layouts.
- Able to use Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Rolling six (6) month contract
