Structural Welder
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder with at least four years of experience in NNS or naval shipyard environments as a first-class Welder. The ideal candidate will be proficient in multi-pass welding, capable of executing all position fillet and butt welds using various processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P. Experience with oxygen/propane heating torch, air carbon arc gouging, and using fillet and butt weld gauges is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet, and butt welds utilizing SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P processes.
- Operate oxygen/propane heating torch and conduct air carbon arc gouging.
- Work in physically demanding shipboard environments, including sub-assemblies, ladders, and staging.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations pertinent to the shipbuilding industry.
- Perform welding qualification tests as per MIL-STD-248D and specific requirements.
- Administer and pass safety training courses including confined space, hazard communication, respirator usage, fall protection, and PPE protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Four years in NNS or naval shipyard as a first-class Welder.
- Welding Qualification: Must pass all-position, multi-pass Butt Welder Qualification Tests.
- Processes: Proficient in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P welding.
- Equipment: Familiarity with oxygen/propane heating torch, fillet, and butt weld gauges.
- Safety: Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols including OSHA standards.
- Certifications: Confined space, hazard communication, respirator training, fall protection, and PPE.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in demanding environments with varying temperature and humidity levels.
