DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International's Santa Ana, CA Structural Team seeks an entry-level engineer. Employee will work on a hybrid schedule.
Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Under limited supervision, plans, designs, and analyzes data on civil engineering and structural projects such as retaining walls, buildings and drainage structures.
- Runs various engineering programs and prepares calculations to determine forces and capacities for structural members including concrete, steel, timber and masonry.
- Prepares moderately complex studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
- Prepares quantities and construction cost estimates
- Prepares construction drawings
- Occasionally visits work site, reporting findings to more experienced engineers and/or project managers
- Communicates with clients regarding project issues, holds and attends meetings
- Assists with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements
- Assists with proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives
- Assists project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met
- Coordinates with technicians to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training
- Occasional to moderate travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with coursework relevant to working in the Structural Engineering field, Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
- Minimum 0 - 3 years of relevant experience
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Required
- You'll need to demonstrate an eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs.
- The ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and effectively participate as part of an engineering team is critical.
- You'll need familiarity with computer-aided design tools such as: Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD and Revit
- You'll need computer knowledge/experience with the following: Microsoft Office Suite, SAP2000, RISA-3D or equivalent finite-element modeling programs.
- Familiarity with CBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI and local building codes.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $66,000-$90,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
