Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support the conceptual design of structures, platforms and pipe supports using drafting and 3D design tools.
- Develop structural design criteria for standard and project specific designs.
- Perform structural analysis for gas turbine enclosures, pipe racks and pipe supports including common analysis of piping and structures.
- Design welded and bolted connections.
- Responsible for issuing structural drawings for project specific applications.
- Review, control and own structural 3d models.
- Write technical specifications as required.
- Review vendor drawings as required.
- Complete interface with various disciplines at all levels.
- Provide engineering assistance to plant construction.
- Resolve all field interference issues.
- Participate in vendor surveillance program and assist in supplier quality assurance.
Required Skills (Technical Competency):
- Civil or Structural Engineering Degree with focus on Structural Design.
- 5+ years of experience in designing industrial structures and performing structural analysis by using computer software.
- 5+ years of experience in connection design.
- Familiarity with Codes and Standards applicable in the USA like IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 341, AISC 358, AISC 360, ACI 318 and AWS D1.1.
- Experience with structural steel fabrication requirements, material selections and writing of fabrication specifications.
- Experience with structural steel materials common in the Americas, Europe and Asia (AISC, ASTM, EN, GB, JIS).
- Experience with using Microsoft Office package such as Word and Excel.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in power generation industry
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
- Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
- Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
- Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
- Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM
- Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
