What we lookfor in our Structural Engineer Interns:
- Must be pursuing or have a bachelor/masters degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or a related field. Sophomore student standing or higher required.
- Availability in Summer 2024 (May/June start until August/September depending on school); part-time availability after Summer preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess excellent follow-up skills.
- Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently.
- Ability or aptitude to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates and other regularly encountered items.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint and MS Project preferred.
- CAD experience through AutoCAD MEP or Revit preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
What are our Structural Engineer Interns responsible for:
- Performing construction administration activities as needed for various structural projects.
- Supporting ongoing mechanical and electrical projects from a structural perspective.
- Performing sizing, layout, and coordination of structural and seismic support of equipment, ductwork, and piping for new and relocated scope.
- Researching codes for inspection requirements.
- Assisting with project submittals related to seismic and structural design.
- Generating accurate structural calculations
- Exploring building information modeling concepts and practices when using BIM as a design platform
- Utilizing both manual and packaged calculations software.
- Other duties as assigned.
