Job Description:
Performs technical component of Exercise and Pharmacological Stress Testing and performs EKG procedures as directed by the Cardiac Services Supervisor. Collects information pertinent to the interpretation of the test. Provides care to patients of varying ages and age-related needs. Under the general direction of the Cardiologist, the Stress Test Technician is responsible for monitoring patients'' cardiac rhythm while undergoing Exercise and Pharmacological Stress Testing. Responsible for recognizing and reporting irregularities noted in patients'' cardiac rhythms. Responsible for recognizing and reporting untoward physical effects on the patient related to the procedure.
Required Skills:
1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
3. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
4. Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
5. Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard skills.
6. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
7. Knowledge of the Cardiovascular System and EKG rhythms
8. Ability to recognize lethal dysrhythmias
Required Experience:
A. Work Experience
One-year experience as EKG Technician required.
B. Education and Training
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Completion of a 16-week structured course in electrocardiographic technology or six week orientation to position.
C. License/Registration/Certification
Current CPR Training Program.
