Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Stress Analyst is responsible for providing oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design. The Stress Analyst will coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. This role supports all ongoing Piasecki Aircraft R&D and Production Programs.
Stress analysis will include:
· Interpretation of vehicle loads and environments, stress calculations and development of margins of safety with known allowable.
· Observance of program standards and requirements to ensure structural integrity, and documentation of stress reports.
· Planning and organizing structural analysis work at the program level to assure total compliance with structural integrity and stability requirements.
· Developing, integrating, and documenting complex or unique structural requirements to establish the system design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Using classical structural analysis to define structural arrangements and determine weight optimized mounting arrangements.
· Collaborating with various internal teams to determine load interactions, acceptable penetration locations, and design refinement.
· Using your knowledge of engineering mechanics, including Engineering Statics, Dynamics, and Strength of Materials.
· Conduct stress analysis using both classical and finite element modeling (FEM) analysis tools, static and fatigue test predictions and regressions, and certification/qualification report preparation.
· Analyze systems/subsystems based on customer requirements as associated with structures and mechanisms designs.
· Participate in the engineering development and support of subsystems/products within our phased development process, including modeling, proof of concept, and implementation, and testing.
- Perform analysis and FAA certification of multiple aircraft modifications.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
· Experience performing stress analysis for subsystems, such as electrical harnesses, brackets, clamps, mounting schemes for masses in flight load environments
· Experience performing deflection analysis for stay-out envelopes between adjacent systems and structure
· Ability to construct and use a Free Body Diagram as part of analysis
· Experience with finite element tools such as Nastran, Patran, or Abaqus
· 5 years or more of actual experience in systems stress analysis.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
· Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering
· Active secret clearance or the ability to obtain one
