Description
The Public Works Department for the Town of Garner is seeking a Streets Maintenance Worker to work as part of a team performing various manual and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and landscaping of Town Right of Ways.
Examples of Duties
- Assisting with Right of Way maintenance work; operating equipment; mowing grass;
Performs a variety of maintenance tasks such as cutting lawns, using power hand equipment,
Applies general use pesticides to various plant materials on some Town and state Right of Ways;
Operates all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks such as backhoes, dump trucks, tractors, hand tools and mowing machines;
Mows grass, removes trash, trims shrubbery, clears and landscapes some Town and state rights-of-way;
Performs related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver's license and good driving record.
Familiarity with tools, equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance.
General knowledge of horticulture and landscaping.
Able to exercise sound decision making, comply with workplace safety regulations, and follow written and oral instructions.
Additional Information
Participation in emergency response activities and support of Town special events is expected.
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
The salary range shown is the hiring range. The starting salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's skills and qualifications.
