Strategy & Project Management

The Strategy Department helps the Rock Hall build and execute its organizational strategy to achieve its goals. The Strategy Department additionally provides Project Management on cross-departmental projects that directly correlate with the Rock Hall’s strategic plan and tracks organizational success. While focusing on performing in-depth research and managing key internal projects, the Strategy & Project Management Intern will gain insight and practical experience while under the direction and mentorship of the Director of Strategic Projects

Tasks & Duties

  • Collect and analyze visitor experience data, creating analytics presentations to share with leadership.
  • Assist in day-to-day Project Management in strategic inter-departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain organizational/staff metrics by completing regular data analysis.
  • Create presentations as needed on datasets provided by leadership.

Possible projects

  • Complete visitor research survey on a Rock Hall special exhibit: design survey, collect data, analyze data, and present results.
  • Complete a project of your choosing that benefits the museum's overall strategy and aligns with your personal career goals. Past project examples include creating internal Project Management workflows, developing museum-wide reports, and creating campaigns with the merchandising department.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be proficient with Excel/Office 365 and general computer skills
  • Familiarity with qualitative/quantitative research or data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and good organizational & planning skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing demands
  • Available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Note: The Strategy Department encourages applications from both business/marketing students looking to expand into the creative arts sector and arts students interested in pairing their studies with business strategy, analytics, and/or research.

Preferred Experiences

  • Previous experience with managing projects to completion

ELIGIBILITY

Intern applicants must be currently enrolled in a college (preferably entering senior year after summer 2024) or graduate school program.

Details

  • Rock Hall internships are paid positions and for enrichment purposes must be willing to work within other departments. This includes working scheduled shifts with the Fan Engagement and Museum Retail teams.
  • The internship is onsite, starting May 29th and ending August 16th. Exact end dates could be flexible with some internships.
  • Estimated weekly hours for this internship: 30 – 35 hours

The Rock Hall is a world-renowned institution and a pillar in the museum and music industries. The internships we host are no different. Not only will all interns get an in depth, project-based learning and working experience, but all interns will also participate in an organization wide internship experience. Weekly career development sessions and panels with Rock Hall staff will ensure you are getting the most out of your time at the Rock Hall and completing the summer with new tools and resources when it comes to beginning your career. All intern positions will get a chance to work on the floor of the museum to learn firsthand how we create the world class guest experience for our visitors from around the globe. Lastly, all our interns will get to experience summer at the Rock Hall and Cleveland, getting to know the city that help build Rock & Roll, and all of the events and excitement we curate each summer.
