Job Description
The Academic Advisor III complies with all state, system, and university policies, regulations, rules, procedures, guidelines, and directives in a timely manner and adheres to confidentiality policies (FERPA). Assists with reporting and analytics. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).
This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday; from 8 AM to 5 PM or as work requirements indicate, which may include after-hours and weekends during peak seasons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 55% - Advising Pathways/Retention
- Provides academic advice, advising, and guidance to students admitted or seeking admission to one of the University's specialized pathway initiatives or degree programs. Advises students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns and determines possible courses of action.
- Manages, coordinates, plans, and implements academic advising, registration, and Onboarding, for the Tarleton Gateway to Success (TGS) program and the Ranger to Tarleton (RTP) program for new incoming first-year students. Point of contact and work in collaboration with students, family, staff, faculty, and associated entities.
- Monitors the academic progress of RTP students and provides strategies for success. Determines feasibility of RTP student progress for full admission to Tarleton.
- Assists with the "Tarrant To and Through" (T3) partnership program. Provides support in conjunction with Tarleton T3 representatives and Tarrant T3 personnel.
- Assists with academic advising for the Program for System Admission (PSA). Advises students on program and course selection according to their selected PSA program. Communicates appropriate deadlines to students (e.g., application, withdrawal/drop dates). Maintains in-depth knowledge of requirements for PSA programs offered to undergraduate students and interacts with families/other stakeholders as appropriate.
- 20% - Student Support
- Assists with coordinating and executing student communications through the Mainstay Retention bot (Oscar P).
- Collaborates with campus partners in conjunction with the Office of Student Retention in initiatives that support student retention and degree completion goals.
- Creates and gives presentations about University College and associated programs to visiting groups.
- Assists and represents University College with on-campus events such as Orientation, Transition Week, and Texan Tours as needed.
- 15% - Student Success
- Assists with monitoring and performing outreach to students identified in the EAB Navigate Early Alert process in need of assistance. Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments. Assists students with adds/drops, withdrawals, and changes of curriculum. Maintains records of student contacts.
- 10% - Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
-Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of related experience

Commensurate with experience
The target base annual salary is $42,000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
