Strategic Formulary Pharmacist

The Strategic Formulary Pharmacist supports the formulary strategy development and execution for True Rx book of business. This position helps ensure the promotion and success of trade strategies related to formulary development, rebate optimization and cost savings opportunities. This position performs drug reviews on new entities for Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T), updates criteria, makes recommendations regarding drug inclusion and utilization management that will be used to create and maintain True Rx formularies. The position works collaboratively with key internal stakeholders including Clinical, Clinical Program Management, and Utilization Management to deliver financial opportunities to True Rx clients. The position is a fundamental member of the team who will participate in many aspects of the team’s functions. This role will play an integral part of monitoring new drugs and maintaining formularies.

What you would do at True Rx Health Strategists:

•  Maintain an understanding of present and future competitive pharmaceutical landscape entailing ability to forecast changes to the pharmaceutical market; aid in development of actionable strategies to address these changes.
•  Determine the financial viability of current and proposed formulary UM opportunities.
•  Serve as interdepartmental bridge between Trade, Clinical Program Management, Clinical, Utilization Management and other stakeholders to propagate trade strategies.
•  Lead department level meetings related to formulary strategic planning; represent True Rx and provide subject matter expertise related to strategy in interdepartmental meetings, such as quarterly business committee meetings.
•  Participate in client engagement activities to educate True Rx clients, promote trade strategies, etc. 

Previous Experience and Abilities:

•  Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience in retail, mail order, health plan, PBM or similar setting as a pharmacist or pharmacy resident.
•  Active Pharmacist License.
•  Knowledge of prescription drugs, disease states, therapy classes, health plan formulary management techniques, prescription plan benefit designs, current healthcare industry news and trends.
•  Project management skills.
•  Ability to perform in an environment with changing priorities and comfortable multi-tasking.
•  Ability to meet short turnaround times with minimal oversight and deadline driven.
•  Strong big data analytical skills with ability to identify and solve problematic issues.
•  Ability to quickly learn various computer systems and software.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Python, SQL, R and Access are a plus).
