Job Description

Salary: $75,000-$85,000

In the Pacific Northwest, it is easy to see the impact that stormwater has in our daily lives, from the roads we rely on to the ecosystems we strive to protect. As an Engineer-in-Training in Osborn Consulting’s Water Resources Practice, your work will directly contribute to the betterment of local communities, ensuring clean water, resilient infrastructure, and thriving habitats.

Our Water Resources Practice is a diverse team with projects that vary in size, client, and service: from small on-call projects with local cities to large, multi-million-dollar, multi-disciplinary projects, and everything in between. As an Engineer-in-Training, you will tackle a variety of projects that keep you engaged and inspired both in the office and out in the field.

Many of our Project Managers and leadership team started out as Engineers-in-Training at Osborn and have grown with our firm. We believe in promoting from within and investing in the education and training of all our staff. With the right drive, passion, and leveraging our network of in-house mentors, you can thrive and grow your career, while working on projects that improve our communities. Many exciting opportunities await!

About You
Our new team member must be well-organized, thorough, and trustworthy, with excellent verbal and writing skills. In this role, we’ll count on you to:

  • Provide quality engineering reports, calculations, and exhibits.
  • Conduct site visits and provide data analysis, as needed.
  • Assist in the development of plans, specifications, and engineer estimates.
  • Provide design solutions for projects within budget and time schedules, ensuring compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client and Osborn Consulting standards.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager for the coordination and development of all project deliverables, including reports, presentations, databases, etc.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or be able to obtain within six months.
  • 0-3 years of experience in design, planning, and implementation of civil design projects focused on stormwater and/or surface water.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of design development using computer aided design software, examples include AutoCAD Civil3D, ArcGIS, MGSFlood, WWHM, SWMM, HEC-RAS, etc.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with clients, partners, and team members.

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge and understanding of state and local stormwater, wastewater, and/or surface water industry rules and regulations.
  • Active participation in industry organizations such as APWA, ASCE, etc.
