Retail Store Manager Position Summary
Reporting to the Gordon Family, this Store Manager & Liquor Specialist role will be responsible for all in-store operations, staffing, product displays and inventory management. The Store Manager will carry a passion for wine and spirits while overseeing all activity relating to merchandising and cultivating an environment based on integrity, communication and training. You will work in a fast-paced environment in which you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, value-added processes while ensuring the department is properly staffed and stocked. Must have at least 2-3yrs of Wine & Liquor Retail experience.
Responsibilities
Manage Inventory Levels, Update Offerings and Maintain Physical Store Appearance
- Purchase (as approved by Management), stock and curate spirit selections for an appealing and organized presentation with floor displays
- Monitor and create new shelf assortments in coordination with Spirits Director and product availability, reviewing inventory for stale product and low inventory
- Ensure spirits offerings within the store align with Company-wide offerings and changes to seasonal offerings
- Ensure all product on the salesfloor properly scans in the POS system and update shelf tags as new inventory is rotated or as sales prices change (ensure correct price)
- Generate transfer requests for product from other stores as needed
- Follow proper protocols for special orders and customer order fulfillment procedures
- Maintain communication with Gordon’s Purchasing Dept. to anticipate incoming inventory, promotions and needs for required signage
Perform POS Functions as Required for All Fundamental Spirits Department Sales Activity
Attain an in-depth understanding of the POS system and the required functionality to perform manager tasks like price overrides, taking deposits on orders, releasing orders, returns, paid outs, offline mode
- Verify that all drawers are closed and reconciled properly at the end of each business day within the department
- Understand how to properly look up and ‘zoom’ inventory items confirming quantity availability and determining if they are available to be stocked on the sales floor
- Understand how to properly look up and ‘zoom’ customer accounts to gather order information for pick-up and resolve questions arising from open/closed orders
Participate in Customer Service Strategies & Sales Generation
- Exhibit and demonstrate exceptional Customer Service skills through product knowledge, communication with customers and training of staff
- Engage with customers on the salesfloor, assist in bringing purchases to their vehicle and create long-lasting relationships for repeat business
- Conduct weekly in-store tastings (and bigger walk-around themed tastings, bi-monthly) and provide educational content to interested parties
- Attend trade tasting dinners, when available, and arrange for spirits dinner partnerships with local restaurants
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 3+ years retail management experience, fine spirits knowledge a must
- General experience with use of a POS system with ability to learn new technology to a sufficient level to train others; be able to lift 50lbs and use a hand truck
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, selling techniques and training staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
- Must be able to delegate tasks to team and work with integrity
- Ability to work in a team environment, take initiative and continually seek for process improvements in collaboration with other departments
- Available to work nights, weekends and holidays as part of your regular schedule
- Practice punctuality, be reliable and have a positive attitude
