This is a unique opportunity for a caring and energetic dental assistant to join our highly successful mobile dental clinic team. Based out of Portland the “Tooth Taxi ”is a fully equipped, state-of-the art mobile van that travels to different locations throughout the state of Oregon. We spend up to a week at a time at schools providing comprehensive dental care to school children (PK-12). This is a full-time year-round position. Seven months of the year you travel (away from home Mon.-Fri. for 1 week a month); winter and summer months are spent locally.
This position is open to experienced assistants or new grads and offers competitive salary and benefits. Under the supervision of a dentist, you will be required to provide chairside assisting, EFDA duties, administrative duties as needed, and patient and classroom education.

1. Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocol.
2. Sterilize and recirculate dental instruments.
3. Electronic charting, scheduling, insurance lookup and data entry.
4. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with infection control policies and protocols.
5. Maintains dental supplies inventory, verifies receipt of supplies.
6. Contributes to team effort and the overall mission of the DFO.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a 38-foot-long, state-of-the-art mobile dental van. Van is based out of Portland, OR and travels the state of Oregon in assist children with their dental needs. Must be able to work with different dentists and be able to adjust to a right or left-handed dentist. Assistant will work with patients of varying ethnic backgrounds, bilingual skills a plus. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks will require sound, depth, and odor perception and differentiation.
Environmental Factors: Position is in clinical environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation, and other conditions common to a clinical environment. Assistant will need to be current on all immunizations.
General: Compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures regarding the provision of clinical dental care and personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentiality.
