First State Orthopaedics is seeking F/T experienced Sterile Processing Technicians for the Glasgow Surgery Center. Minimum of 2 years recent Sterile Processing department experience; experience with orthopedic instruments and trays required, experience in an outpatient facility is preferred. **Must be able to work a shift that covers late afternoons/early evenings until approximately 4pm - 6pm.
The primary function of the Sterile Processing Technician is that of an allied health professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the appropriate the decontamination, inspection, sterilization and inventory of the instruments and surgical trays.
Operates sterilization equipment and maintains appropriate records such as logs and sterilization records.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an Accredited Program or acceptable combination of skills and training Current certification by IAHCAM, ASHCSP, CBSPD. Current BCLS Certification
- Demonstrates working knowledge of sterile technique related to Sterile Processing with working knowledge of Sterile Processing equipment and supplies
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians/surgeons, surgical staff and other health care workers and work as a valued member of the team
- Ability to work well under pressure, respond appropriately and quickly to changes in work flow, work with speed and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work flow
- Skills include clinical reasoning, problem solving, decision making, superior documentation skills, superior communication skills
- Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records and computer security codes, as well as protects the integrity of privileged information
