Job Description:
We're currently seeking a contract artist to illustrate our scientific research activities. Applicants must have a very strong drawing and illustration background, and expertise using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Must be extremely organized and able to adjust to a fast paced scientific environment to produce creative quality ideas and concepts and then transfer those ideas. Contribute to all aspects of the written and oral presentations and visual communication processes.
Other Duties
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to all aspects of written and oral presentations and visual communication processes
- Create and edit PowerPoint presentations for staff members
- Create templates with appropriate markings for staff use based on previous examples
- Coordinate the preparation and review of presentations with scientific staff
- Ensure consistency within and across all presentations for a particular meeting
- Design and develop concepts and illustrations for scientific project
- Coordinate and incorporate the proofing work of graphic design for quality control
- Use Dropbox and/or Google Drive file sharing system to set up repositories for documents
- Prepare PDFs and mockups for manuscripts
- Make meeting announcement images and scientific posters
- Load and test run presentations on computer
- Proposed revisions to our work process
Qualifications
Qualification:
- Applicants must have a very strong curiosity about science, especially marine science (BA/BS in art or STEM subject, recommended).
- Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Must be extremely organized and able to adjust to a fast paced scientific environment
