The Steelers are now seeking a media professional to assist the team in illustrating our present, as well as celebrating our history, through compelling content on a year-round basis - which most prominently includes serving as the team’s Radio Play-By-Play Voice – i.e. “The Voice of the Steelers”.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned media professional who possesses an on-air presence, experience as a radio play-by-play announcer and a demonstrated ability to create and contribute to the development of content across a variety of mediums.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Steelers are now seeking a media professional to assist the team in illustrating our present, as well as celebrating our history, through compelling content on a year-round basis - which most prominently includes serving as the team’s Radio Play-By-Play Voice – i.e. “The Voice of the Steelers”.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned media professional who possesses an on-air presence, experience as a radio play-by-play announcer and a demonstrated ability to create and contribute to the development of content across a variety of mediums.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the play-by-play voice for all Pittsburgh Steelers Radio Network game broadcasts.
- Assist Steelers Radio Network Game Producer in preparing the radio game broadcast presentation and format, which could include production meetings and other pre-planning efforts.
- Act as a leader on the Steelers Radio Network broadcast team, working with the Game Producer to integrate other voices, statistics, facts and key game elements, in clear, concise fashion.
- Maintain an ability to describe, in expert fashion, Steelers games, including game flow, key moments, player performances, etc.
- Maintain year-round expert knowledge of the team and its history, as well as the NFL as a whole, through research, in-person interviews, etc.
- Participate in postgame recap meetings.
- Serve as a key personality – ie host and/or analyst on a variety of Steelers Media Production programming efforts, including but not limited to, audio & video programs, interviews, voiceovers, feature and script development, etc., as assigned.
- Serve as a host or key contributor for Steelers team events.
- Maintain a professional demeanor on-air and adhere to industry standards of professionalism.
- Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and other team personnel, as assigned.
- Be on-site for all Steelers games, both at home and on the road.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated possession of a clear and compelling radio voice.
- Experience serving as a play-by-play voice, with experience in football broadcasts being a plus.
- Expert knowledge on the game of football, NFL is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines.
- Experience working as part of a positive and productive broadcast team.
- Experience hosting and/or contributing to other programming types, such as podcasts, player/coach interviews and video/studio programming.
- Experience conducting interviews with athletes, coaches and executives.
- Full-time residence of Pittsburgh, PA
