ABOUT THE JOB
This opportunity is a full-time and benefits-eligible position.
HOURS
Monday – Friday 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Overtime and Weekend required based on business needs
TITLE:Steel Erectors Supervisor (Shipfitter/Fabricator)
REPORTS TO: Foreman/Vice-President/President
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely and efficiently perform general carpentry labor, to complete construction associated with building cruise ships and tug boats. Aggressive work ethic with focus on production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
- Must Have 3-5 years of Supervisor Experience
- Must have working knowledge of tack welding with stick and semi-automatic welding equipment
- Follow instructions from foreman
- Ability to apply basic machine shop math.
- Operate hand-held powered equipment and manual tools (ie. plasma torches).
- Practice proper safety & always keep job site clean.
- Erect the frames, beams, longitudinal and stiffening members that are the core structures of cruise ships and tugs
- Install structural outfit items, doors, ladders, foundations
- Complete lay outs using drawings and/or templates
- Assign duties to workers and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Able to inspect work and assure that it will meet all QA Standards.
- Demonstrate layout proficiency.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Proven experience as a Stick Welder with a focus on tack welding.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in tack welding.
- General carpentry work.
- Familiar with crane hand signs. (preferred)
- Safe use of all tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- All types of physical movement required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions.
- Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
- Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
- Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders, stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter into tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes throughout much of the work shift.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
MENTAL REQUIREIMENTS:
Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand-eye coordination required.
HAZARDS: Weather, fumes, moving mechanical parts, equipment and vibration.
