Automation Personnel Services is looking for a hard-working Steel Bar Grating Checker or Drafter for a company based in Houston, TX. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for taking the engineering design drawings to produce for a panel layout of Steel Bar Grating based on structural steel plan drawings and the use of architectural drawings for reference and clarification.
Pay Rate:
$50K - $60K-salary
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Steel Bar Grating Checker Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will be working in AutoCAD, reading Structural/Architectural drawings.
- Will take engineering design drawings to produce a plan for panel layout of Steel Bar Grating based on structural steel plan drawings.
- Will use of architectural drawings for reference and clarification.
- Basic understanding of creating and using layers, dimensions, and text in AutoCAD.
- Must adhere to department policies and procedures for detailing, estimating, and engineering drawings.
- Review specs and drawings to adherence to take off and identify discrepancies as well as create job specify requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Steel Bar Grating Checker Qualifications and Requirements:
- A 2 or 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, drafting/design, or technical studies required OR
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required plus 3 – 5 years’ experience.
- Experience with structural steel- drafting structural steel preferred.
- Strong experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite essential
- Reading design drawings and sections, Field use drawings and shop drawings
- General understanding of steel stairs, handrail, and pertaining steel connections
- Basic level of welding symbols and manufacturing processes
- Must have a high level of energy; be results-oriented, and confident.
- Must be able to self- manage and keep level head in high pace, high stress environment handling multiple jobs with specific deadline requirements.
