TITLE: STEAM TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Federal Highly Qualified, Title I related requirements (must meet one of the following):
    1. High School Diploma/GED and Associate's Degree or higher, OR
    2. Sixty (60) college credits at the 100 level or above, OR
    3. Passing score on AZ Paraprofessional Exam.
  2. Two years post secondary education is preferred.
  3. Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
  4. Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.

JOB GOALS:
The STEAM Technician, under the direction of the Director of Technology and Innovation, works with students and teachers in the District's STEAM labs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
  1. Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  2. Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
  3. Assists with instruction in a STEAM lab and with STEAM activities.
  4. Supervises students when assigned.
  5. Assists in STEAM related activities.
  6. Perform job requests on all equipment in STEAM labs.
  7. Performs technology administration duties.
  8. Work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  9. Develops training/support documentation.
  10. Facilitate General Safety Training and Machine Specific Training.
  11. Perform maintenance on STEAM lab equipment.
  12. Documents issues in the ticketing system.
  13. Manages multiple calendars.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
  1. District policies, operations and organization.
  2. Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
  3. Communication (telephone, email, etc.) etiquette.
  4. Written and oral English.
  5. Instructional methods.
  6. Software used in the labs (i.e., Tinkercad, CorelDraw, CarbideCreate, Carbide Motion, PrusaSlicer, UCP).
  7. Hardware used in the labs (i.e., CNC Router, 3D Printer, Laser Cutter).
  8. GSuite applications.

Skill and Ability to:
  1. Use the English language correctly.
  2. Instruct students and adults on safety, software, and hardware.
  3. Maintain discipline.
  4. Create an audience appropriate curriculum on a variety of topics (i.e., hardware, software, safety, PD).
  5. Quickly learn new hardware and software; stay up to date on current trends.
  6. Troubleshoot issues to determine root cause and resolution.
  7. Consult with a variety of individuals to understand their needs; ask questions.
  8. Objectively analyze and evaluate a situation.
  9. Work independently and as part of a team.
  10. Work in an unstructured environment; provide self direction.
  11. Brainstorm ideas and provide various solutions to meet customer needs.

  4. Require mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
  5. Requires the ability to stand for long periods.
  6. Is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Innovation
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Technology and Innovation in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of Classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
