This 9-month, non-tenure track appointment begins in August 2024. Renewal for subsequent academic years is anticipated.
This is a Title III grant-funded position.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to serve as a faculty member teaching up to two courses per semester (depending on department needs) in their discipline of expertise. The STEAM Learning Center Coordinator manages the STEAM Learning Center to promote student success in STEM courses (especially gateway courses) and participates in collaborative interdisciplinary teams to develop activities designed to blend the Arts into the traditional STEM curriculum (STEM to STEAM). The STEAM Learning Center Coordinator will also coordinate student peer mentoring activities for STEM courses, provide supplemental instruction for gateway STEM courses and employ instructional strategies that emphasize active learning and high engagement.
Other responsibilities include professional activity and service to both the University and community. Involving students in research activities is desirable. The faculty member will be required to evaluate and use current technology in courses and to maintain a positive educational relationship with students and colleagues. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum development, committee service and performing other duties required to meet organizational needs.
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics or Computer Science or related field. Course development and curriculum design experience as well as evidence of a commitment to working with students from diverse academic and social backgrounds are also desirable. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach with technology. Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills are also highly desirable.
