Job description

Nutrition Support Services (NSS) is responsible for managing the day-to-day food service operations of CPS schools, modular buildings, annexes, and satellite locations. NSS is responsible to support the District's academic community by providing nutritious and appealing meals with excellent customer service, in a safe and clean environment to every student each school day. NSS serves over 60 million meals to 300,000 students daily.

 

Job Summary

Under the direction of the NSS Staffing Manager, the Staffing Analyst provides support for staffing of schools across the district including facilitating requests for summer school, after school, spring break and winter break feeding, and processing payroll for assigned employees, as well as supporting the Staffing Manager in the completion of lunchroom staff evaluations and the bid process.

The Staffing Analyst will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Generate, compile and submit daily staffing reports for filled/unfilled assignments and absenteeism for all lunchroom staff
  • Synthesize candidate and hiring data from various sources within Talent Acquisition to discover areas of opportunities in the hiring process that will continuously drive healthy metrics
  • Produce models, materials, and dashboards using candidate and hiring data that track and measure the health of the department in meaningful and quantifiable ways with intuitive visualization
  • Perform regular data integrity audits to guarantee accuracy of all Recruiting-related reports, dashboards, and analytics, including ensuring the alignment with internal and external retention and compliance requirements
  • Assist with creating and assisting with ad hoc analytic data requests, including requirements gathering, development, testing, roll out and presentation of informative insights and analysis
  • Produce weekly, monthly, yearly data reports on hiring efforts, vacancy reports, MPLH (Meal per Labor Hour) analysis 
  • Assist with onboarding and recruitment of NSS staff

 

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Staffing Analyst must possess the following qualifications: 

Education Required: 

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience Required: 

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in Human Resources Operations or Payroll, preferably in a high demand environment or similar
  • Prior experience working in a union environment is highly preferred.
  • Food service experience a plus
  • HRIS or other technical systems experience and knowledge preferred (e.g. Peoplesoft, Oracle and Kronos)
  • Experience presenting data and conclusions to leadership with confidence and concision

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, data visualization and presentation skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Smartsheets, and Google Suite
  • Skilled at translating data to inform operational decisions regarding Talent Acquisition strategies
  • Ability to create and maintain enterprise-level visualizations, Tableau preferred
  • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to learn quickly, an eye for detail, good follow-through, positive people skills, and the flexibility to take on various tasks and projects within the department
  • Solid planning and organizational skills and capable of developing work plans and following through to their completion with limited direction and oversight
  • High standards of support personnel, ethical behavior, and professionalism; able to maintain objectivity and confidentiality with highly sensitive information
  • Superior organizational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills

 

Conditions of Employment

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:

  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. 
  • Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing - Employees are required to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after your second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination course. Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing. 

 

CPS Non-Union Job Grade:     S06
Estimated Annual Salary Range:     $56,000 - $71,000
Final salary offers are dependent upon candidate qualifications.
