Job Responsibilities:
review and verify prescriptions, ensuring information is entered correctly, verifying medicine is correct, counting pills, and checking for possible interactions.
Ensure the proper processing of insurance claims including following and instructing staff on procedures, monitoring progress, and calling insurance companies to help resolve insurance problems to lessen payment rejections and charge backs, and heighten customer satisfaction.
Counsel patients and answer their questions on usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive alternatives, and over-the-counter products.
Use appropriate clinical resources and reference materials to answer drug-related questions from doctors and patients.
Ensure daily operations follow Texas pharmacy laws and regulations, and Local Pharmacy policy and procedures
Coach your team to perform at the highest level, reinforce teamwork behaviors, and engage in pharmacy initiatives.
Clarify dosages, refills, interactions and allergies, suggest alternative medications, and answer medical provider questions.
Call provider station as needed to ensure medicine is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service.
Develop and maintain good relationships with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.
Resolve customer complaints and monitor the customer service provided by employees.
Maintain knowledge and skill in the fields of pharmacy and healthcare, read pharmacy related journals, read company publications and communications, complete continuing education credits, researches new drugs, attend meetings, etc.
Obtain necessary certifications and complete other training required by the company.
Seek self-development by monitoring one’s performance, setting high personal standards, keeping aware of developments in retail and management, seeking best practices, learning from others, and improving one’s job performance.
Promote teamwork and cooperation among employees, including helping resolve conflict, giving feedback, recognizing progress, fostering a sense of shared success, and assists other employees as needed.
As a Pharmacy Manager, it is important to communicate with employees by keeping lines of communication open.
Train employees, including new hire orientation, on-the-job training, cross-training, answering questions, determining training needs, following up to ensure training is used, and coaching informally.
Prepare, maintain, and submit records, reports, and other documentation required to sell drugs and related products (i.e. copies of prescriptions, regulatory reports), and other documentation required to run the business.
Assist with inventory control procedures to maximize inventory investment by ordering and returning items, monitoring reorder points, and anticipating needs to minimize high-cost orders, expired and recalled stock, overstock and slow-moving items, and reconciling stock exceptions and partial fills, leveraging company resources, etc.
Promote higher profit pharmacy business (e.g., generics, special services, promotional programs, etc.).
Perform comprehensive medication reviews, provide in-services to the providers and nurses, and other clinical initiatives in coordination with providers to increase overall quality of care for our patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of pharmacology and biology including understanding of disease states, classes of drugs, etc. (See Required Qualifications below)
Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations for taking and dispensing prescriptions.

Required Qualifications:
Texas Pharmacist license current and in good standing with TSBP
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills
Work at least 8 hour shifts
Able to lift a maximum of 30 lbs
Reside within a 30 mile radius from the pharmacy
