American Energy Storage Innovations, Inc. has a full-time opening for a Staff Firmware Designer in Bengaluru, India.


Job Summary:

The Staff Firmware Designer, India is responsible for working on communication protocols, peripherals developments, and complex device drivers, as well as application layer developments in ARM microcontroller.


The Staff Firmware Designer, India will help in the design and execution of the system’s architecture and components. This individual will work with global cross-functional teams i.e., product, platforms, Quality Assurance (QA), and Hardware (HW) designers from concept to mass production. The architecture will be common between the Energy storage and Mobility division. This individual is an integral contributor to the advancement of our organization’s different technologies.


Responsibilities:

  • Architect various components in the next generation of battery storage solution with a balance of safety, quality, cost, and large data collection at the center of it.
  • Work with System Engineers to define requirements, review schematics design, and operate all Energy Storage components in Sync.
  • Define system requirements and develop unit tests and software/hardware integration.
  • Target high amount of re-use in the Automotive division of the company. Hence meet Automotive safety requirements in the framework.
  • Create a strong Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio.
  • Drive results within constraints of Product life cycle development and production at scale.
  • Provide international engineering support to factories.
  • Develop and implement different peripherals over 32bit controllers including PWM, and ADC.
  • Develop and implement communications protocols including, but not limited to, I2C, SPI, RS232/485, CAN.
  • Knowledge of layered architecture and hardware abstraction concepts and develop codes in such firmware architecture.
  • Develop and implement complex device driver’s different ASIC’s and ADC based sensors.
  • Design, test, and debug firmware solutions to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Utilize various debugger programs and lab test equipment.
  • Optimize firmware algorithms to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of firmware designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during the product development lifecycle.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in power electronics and firmware technologies.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.


Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or an equivalent field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in firmware development in non-AUTOSAR, or power electronics.
  • Strong knowledge and proven experience in developing complex algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C and python.
  • Experience with software development IDE’s and version control systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to study and interpret data sheets and schematics.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
  • Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
