Are you a seasoned Staff Cloud Platform Engineer eager to lead and collaborate with dynamic teams of developers? Join us at the OnStar Services Development Factory, where you will be a key player in building and managing shared platform solutions critical to the OnStar Transformation effort. This role focuses on enabling back-end services across the entire OnStar ecosystem
As a Staff Cloud Platform Engineer, you will leverage both public and private cloud environments, working closely with Engineering, Architecture, and SRE teams to develop and standardize innovative patterns, libraries, and services essential for our transformative journey.
Ideal Candidate:
GM are seeking an accomplished professional with a proven track record of successfully leading and solving complex Platform Engineering problems at the enterprise level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate both breadth and depth in supporting multiple technical workstreams.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience building and operating scalable and reliable platforms for global customer SaaS offerings in production.
Strong Linux administration experience.
Solid understanding of Container Orchestration, with a preference for expertise in Kubernetes.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform.
Expertise in end-to-end applications hosted on Kubernetes, emphasizing scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance.
Experience in designing and engineering highly-available public cloud services, with a preference for Azure IaaS/PaaS.
Experience with open-source, cloud-native products supporting complex applications and services (e.g., Service Mesh, Service Discovery, Routing, Logging Infrastructure, CI/CD tools, etc.).
Experience utilizing various Cloud Services to host production-grade solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs, and solutions.
Creative problem-solving skills, delivering elegant solutions to complex issues.
Strong teamwork focus, embodying a "live by the team, die by the team" philosophy, and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience.
Experience using Git source control for rebases, merges, and handling merge conflicts.
Nice to Have:
Experience with cloud data platforms, including hybrid cloud data sources.
Experience in multi-region platform development.
Experience utilizing various Azure Services to host production-grade solutions.
