Support Staff Associate
Firm Overview:
Quigley & Miron, CPAs is an established, full‐service certified public accounting firm providing accounting and assurance, tax, and management advisory services to, primarily, nonprofit organizations, with offices in
San Jose and the Mid‐Wilshire area of Los Angeles, California.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for providing audit and general support to Quigley & Miron’s auditors and staff. Responsibilities include various assignments to measure and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of processes for delivery of audits. Duties are performed in accordance with the federal quality control regulations and existing state policies.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Participate in all phases of financial statement audits including planning, fieldwork, report drafting, and wrap‐up;
- Assist in performing audit procedures including developing and updating supporting schedules to support financial statement balances.
- Receive, analyze, research, and respond to auditor, staff, and client requests and inquiries relating to audits;
- Coordinate and follow‐up with clients, internal business units, and third parties to confirm closure on open items;
- Assist senior audit associates in the documentation of internal controls and other significant control procedures;
- Assist in the preparation of financial statement reports, audit letters, memos, schedules, and other audit documentation; proofread for typographical errors and ensure correct grammar and punctuation;
- Work as a member of a team to support each business unit, maintaining the firm’s high standards of client service and quality;
- Identify opportunities to improve existing procedures and recommend ways to increase efficiency and productivity for the firm;
- Accompany senior audit associates to client location to perform onsite audit procedures.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of client field work.
- Perform special assignments and projects as needed.
Required Skills, Characteristics, and Experience:
- Four‐year college degree
- Formal plan in place to obtain CPA License
- Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Word
- Above‐average organizational skills; ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Self‐starter who assumes responsibility for assigned work and corresponding deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member with auditors and staff
- Exceptional client service; ability to consistently convey a positive and friendly attitude and professional image for the firm.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a rapidly‐changing environment
- Understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) a plus
- Knowledge of Quickbooks or similar accounting software a plus
- Knowledge of Prosystem fxEngagement and Knowledge Coach or similar audit program software a plus
- Professional accounting/nonprofit experience a plus
Compensation:
- Commensurate with Experience $(23 to $27.50 an hour)
Position Type:
- Full‐Time; must be available to work 40+ hours per week
