Staff Accountant

There's currently a position available through Robert Half at a growing Manufacturing firm for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant. Based in the Paramount, California area, this exciting short-term contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
- Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
- Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Maintain monthly payment schedules
- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
- Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
- Comprehensive knowledge of bank reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Oracle experience
- Command of journal entries
- Efficient in ERP systems
- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
