POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Staff Accountant is an integral member of the financial team responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the monthly and annual financial results of the company in the general ledger. The ideal candidate must have the highest level of integrity, and work within GAAP and other required compliance standards. Looking for a self-starter, capable of operating independently when required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares monthly journal entries as assigned for each location.
- Ensures assigned reconciliations are complete for review and approval.
- Reconciles assigned accounts on a monthly basis.
- Researches causes of identified variances, which may involve collaboration with other Finance Team members in A/R and A/P.
- Assists with the annual audit preparation.
- Aids management in driving financial accountability throughout the organization.
- Ensures timely submission and accuracy of month/year end financial information.
- Provides support to the annual plan and budget process.
- Performs ad hoc analysis of financial information.
- Supports the Senior Staff Accountant and Corporate Controller with other tasks and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
- Manufacturing accounting experience a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems a plus.
- Detail oriented and focused on implementing processes to ensure accuracy of work.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and research skills.
- Must be proactive and be able to initiate discussions, dig deeply into issues based on intuition and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Employment tasks normally performed at Elmet Technologies facility.
- Must be able to read, write, hear, and speak the English language sufficiently and comprehensibly enough to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Works with a computer for 8+ hours/day.
- Routinely communicates face-to-face, via telephone and by computer.
- Must be able to walk a 1/8 mile without difficulty, bend, reach and lift 10lbs to shoulder height.
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions which may include loud noise, variable temperatures, and dust.
