Hellas Construction, Inc., The #1 Sports Construction company in North America, is seeking an energetic and motivated Staff Accountant to assist a fast-paced Construction Company in Austin.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our finance team as a Work-in-Progress Accountant. As a WIP Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial information, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
- The WIP Accountant is responsible for providing management with timely and accurate production of financial statements for the purpose of monitoring the results of the company.
- Reviews and prepares general ledger entries by maintaining financial reports, records, general ledgers, and files, performing general bookkeeping, reconciling accounts.
- Performs account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts, analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports to verifying information.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Posts monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals, closes accounts, and books month-end close entries within 15 days.
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
- Manages inventory process for yards and warehouses, including ensure receipts are provided for CAPEX items, processing invoices, inventory transfers, count verifications, end of month reconciliations, variance reports, recording of issues and journal entries for turf, track, tennis, and GC.
- Partners with Surface Division Manager(s) and Plant Manager(s) to review inventory process, and accounts as needed to ensure accurate inventory reporting.
- Ensures accurate billing, invoices, payments, etc. are kept with intercompany recordings.
- Performs internal audits to verify journal entries, verify information submitted, etc.
- Manages the leadership teams corporate credit cards by providing expense statements to employees for coding, verifies expense coding, reconciles, and uploads final into the system.
- Works on ad hoc projects to improve processes, procedures and improve efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Five plus (5+) years’ experience in accounting.
- Experience in construction and multi-state setting a plus.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal history background check, credit check, and/or fingerprinting.
- Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication are a must, including the ability to interface with others, regardless of title or position within the company. This includes external contacts such as client-owners, vendors, and internal/external auditors.
- Exceptional analytical skills, comfortable working with data, and communicating data findings.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and persuasion, leveraging business acumen, expertise, and data to assist management in making business decisions.
- Experience with ERP systems and paperless environment.
- Proficient in operating a Windows PC (desktop and/or laptop), which may include the following peripherals: webcam, mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, monitor(s), and external drive.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn other functional software, which may include: ComputerEase, Sage, mjobtime, SAP Concur.
