The Staff Accountant provides accounting, financial and other administrative support under the direction of the CFO and Controller. Responsibilities include monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining financial transactions for multiple corporate entities, preparing bank reconciliations, assisting in preparation of required internal and external financial reports and other financial accounting duties as needed within multiple corporate entities.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant may include:
- Enter and review accounting transactions within QuickBooks for several corporate entities and the parent organization.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash levels.
- Prepare various reconciliation of general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare documentation for external auditors when needed.
- Assist in the management of accounting records for various state and federal grants and maintain grant expenditure tracking.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Manage intercompany activity and monitor for discrepancies.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, or a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, in accounting, finances, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
- Knowledge of grant accounting and state and federal grant procedures preferred.
- Very strong MS Excel and financial reporting package Knowledge of QuickBooks a plus.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to complete.
- Ability to work well with others under multiple and competing deadline situations and respond to changing prior.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail.
