Job Title: Staff Accountant

Reports To: Senior Director, Finance and Administration

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Location: Montgomery County, Maryland

Compensation: $60,000 - 75,000/ year

Benefits: 401(k) with a 6% employer match, 3 weeks of paid vacation, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, and 7 sick days. In addition, we cover 75% of the premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

The Montgomery County Green Bank ("Green Bank") is a publicly chartered, nonprofit financial intermediary dedicated to accelerating affordable climate investments in Montgomery County, Maryland. Summary of Position

The Staff Accountant has an important role in helping the Green Bank maintain the business operations platform on which the investment activities and all other facets of the Green Bank thrive. The Staff Accountant assists the Senior Director, Finance and Administration in ensuring financial management and reporting, bill payment and expense analysis, financial statements review, procurement, and contract management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the processing of financial, including but not limited to:

• Entering and correctly coding all Bill.com vendor invoices.
• Preparing required invoices to outside funding partners.
• Supporting accounting processes, to include downloading bank and other statements, and updating payment and other financial trackers.
• Reviewing all accounting system entries to ensure accurate and complete activity.
• Reviewing with the Senior Director, Finance and Administration the draft financial statements and accompanying worksheets from the external accounts and communicating required adjustments.
• Supporting the preparation of funding and other compliance reports, as well as coordination on the annual audit and 990.

• Provide external loss reserve and participation partners with the required Green Bank financial information and reports.
• Support the Portfolio Administration team in preparing the loss reserve, loss allowance, and ACH cash activity reports.

Qualifications

The Staff Accountant should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, or in a relevant field of study. Prior experience is a plus. Internships prior to graduation and leading to hiring are available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of general accounting principles, financial analysis and management, finance.
• Understanding of Not-for-Profit accounting, real estate finance and loan processing a plus.
• Collaboration skills, developing strategic partnerships to leverage resources and embracing an entrepreneurial environment.
• Track record of being highly organized and self-motivated.
• Proven communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated ability and effectiveness in communicating ideas and information, both quantitative and qualitative.
• Knowledge of Not-for-Profit tax laws, reporting requirements, and regulations related to charitable gifts, trusts, estates and grants, and the operation of a public charity a plus.
