Staff Accountant

POSITION: Habitat America seeks a strong, professional full-time Accountant.

Position Title: Accountant

HOURS: 40 hours per week- FULLTIME

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A four-year bachelor's degree in accounting is desired. However a minimum of an associate's degree in accounting is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 2+ years accounting or bookkeeping experience desired
• Excel proficiency is a must
• STRONG data entry proficiency
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Yardi software experience a plus
• Accuracy and attention to detail is a must!
• Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:

• Enter journal entries into the accounting software
• Accruals/Deferrals/Prepaids
• Ensure that reversing entries occur
• Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
• Conduct periodic reconciliations of mortgage accounts to ensure their accuracy
• Issue financial statements for Controller review
• Assist with assembly of information for owners, investors and regulating entities
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
• Assist the Controller with special projects
• Special projects, as necessary.
