About Us: The North Tahoe Community Alliance collaborates with regional stakeholders to support a vibrant, year-round economy that benefits residents, businesses and visitors of North Lake Tahoe. The organization also advocates for local transportation and workforce housing solutions, visitor services, and promotes responsible and off-peak season travel with a focus on stewardship education. We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Grants and Funding Management: Monitor and track grant funding, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, timely reporting, and proper utilization of funds.
- Payroll Processing: Oversee payroll functions, including timesheet review, payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, and compliance with applicable laws.
- Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide necessary documentation to auditors during annual audits.
- Compliance: Stay updated on nonprofit accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements; ensure adherence to nonprofit financial best practices.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to provide financial guidance, support decision-making, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess financial processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience (1-5 years) in accounting or finance roles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to the mission and values of our nonprofit.
Other desired skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Experience in Dynamics GP preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related experience.
LICENSES/PERMITS REQUIRED:
• Valid CA/NV driver’s license.
• Valid ID, Green Card or Resident Card if not a US Citizen.
