Position Summary
The Staff Accountant, under the direction of the Finance Director and Finance Manager, will assist in performing the day to day accounting functions such as accounts payable processing, month end closing, report analysis, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, departmental budget setup, and distribution of requested summaries and reports to the executive team. Maintain accuracy of all financial records and compliance with GAAP and all Title 31 regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in preparing and entry of all General Ledger entries.
- Assists with month end closing.
- Maintains and reconciles on a monthly basis all account receivables, asset and expense accounts versus the budget or other supporting documentation.
- Assists in completing, analyzing, and preparing month end financial reports and summaries for executive team.
- Cross train in other departmental roles for assistance as needed.
- Assist in identifying and drafting proposed checklists, processes, and controls as needed to complete tasks or assigned.
- Maintain finance records ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record
- Process vendor invoices, and verify budget information for payment.
- Research and resolve issues related to day-to-day accounts payables, and purchasing/receiving.
- Process Accounts Payable transactions daily as necessary.
- Process Accounts Payable checks as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and thoroughness of documents and/or tasks assigned.
- All other related duties or special projects as they arise and are assigned by the Controller, Finance Manager, and/or General Manager.
- Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
- Assist in assuring the department maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), NIGC MICS requirements, and Title 31, Bank Secrecy Reporting requirement.
- Comply with the Cahuilla Gaming ordinances, standards, policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of SAGE 100 (MAS 90) a plus
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel required
- 2 years of Accounting/Finance/Audit experience required.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Demonstrated capability, initiative, self-motivation, communication skills, and the ability to operate in a team approach environment.
- Must be able to learn gaming operations. Previous Gaming experience a plus.
- Ability to handle responsibilities and coordinate activities to meet objectives in an efficient and timely manner.
- Must meet requirements to qualify for a Cahuilla Casino Gaming License.
